Born in 1976, Jocelyn Chavy tells stories through words and photography - when there are little to no words needed. He has worked for most of the mountaineering magazines in France, including Vertical, and Montagnes Magazine as editor in chief. Always with his camera he climbed onto some wild edges including Yosemite's El Capitan and survived various Nepali Dal Bhats.
His passion for the wilderness drove him to remote corners of Niger, Yemen or Tibet. Working for Trek Magazine, he has documented more than 25 countries, with a focus on Nepal and the Himalayan world, from India to Bhutan. His commercial work as photographer and editor includes eight years of Petzl sport catalogs' editorial direction, and many brand or event commercials (BOA, Pierra Menta).
In 2012 he established Wider le magazine outdoor, a bimonthly printed leading sports and outdoor lifestyle magazine & website, as editor in chief. In 2015 he added Vertical the mountaineering magazine to his skills as editor in chief, and completely renewed this well established magazine. Licensed DGAC drone pilot, Jocelyn Chavy uses DJI drones to capture mountain scenery in video since 2015. Author of 5 books, he lives close to the Alps, Grenoble, France.
